BMW R1200GS Adv Crash wegen Dieselspur
Lucky to be alive. I was just cruising and enjoying long sweepers of Highway 118 in Chiang Rai when this happened. All of a sudden the handlebars were ripped out of my hands, the rear wheel spinned wildly and I was sent sprawling across the asphalt surface. Luckily, there were no vehicles behind me or coming from the opposite direction.
I checked, there was a spilled diesel "line" which I hit at no more than 120km/h. I am fine, not a single scratch on my body, let alone bone fracture. Minor damage to trousers and jacket while bike suffered some scratches at the lower side of left pannier and unhinged rear view mirror which was easy to fix.
Crash bars and 2mm thick anodized aluminium pannier saved the bike from serious damage. It is an understatement of the year when I say this has completely shattered my riding confidence.
